Leah Silen – Executive Director
Leah Silen has been with NumFOCUS from its beginning, working with the founding board members to write the application for NumFOCUS’s nonprofit status. Before joining NumFOCUS, she worked in the nonprofit sector as a Public Relations and Program Director with a focus on community relations and fundraising. Leah has also volunteered and sat on several boards of nonprofit organizations.

Gina Helfrich – Communications Director; Program Manager for Diversity & Inclusion
Gina Helfrich first joined NumFOCUS in 2015. She earned her Ph.D. in Philosophy and Women’s Studies from Emory University and is the former Director of the Women’s Center at Harvard University. Gina has led successful marketing and communications efforts across multiple sectors, including higher education, technology, nonprofits, and as an entrepreneur (she co-founded recruitHER). Gina is a vocal advocate for inclusion and diversity in tech and a frequent speaker on this subject.

Christie Koehler – Projects Director
Christie Koehler joined NumFOCUS in 2017 as Projects Director, bringing with her more than a decade of experience in open source governance and non-profit management. Christie has done consulting through Authentic Engine, and prior to joining NumFOCUS, had a long tenure at Mozilla contributing to several teams including MDN, FirefoxOS, and MozillaWiki.

Lynn Brubaker – Project Finance Manager   
​Lynn Brubaker graduated with a Bachelor of Science Business Administration.  Before joining NumFOCUS, she worked at a hedge fund as an Office Manager.

Minal Kalas – Operations Coordinator
Minal Kalas came to NumFOCUS from the University of Texas at Austin with studies in both Chemistry and Philosophy. She is excited to be working with NumFOCUS to help sustain and promote open-source tools geared toward the scientific community.

Nancy Nguyen – Events Coordinator
Nancy Nguyen joined NumFOCUS in 2017, bringing over five years of event management experience in the non-profit and higher education sectors. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011 with a BA in History. Prior to joining NumFOCUS, Nancy worked in development and fundraising at the University of Texas at Austin with a focus on event management, operations, and stewardship.
